Comprehensive Services

As the largest cancer care provider in West Michigan, we offer patients access to more specialists, technology and treatment options—more choices.

More Specialists and Cancer Experts

We offer more than 150 cancer specialists and nearly 600 employees specially trained in cancer care. That means patients have access to a team that covers every aspect of cancer care and can benefit from specific areas of expertise.

Many of our cancer experts are:

  • Double or triple board certified with fellowship training
  • Faculty at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine
  • Active in clinical research and education

More Expertise: Multispecialty Teams

Our multispecialty teams bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge in various areas of medicine to review your situation.

They meet with patients in a single appointment to discuss treatment options, coordinate next steps and answer questions. Patients receive a personalized plan by the end of the appointment. Patients also benefit from disease site-specific tumor boards, where physicians gather input from colleagues.

Spectrum Health was the first in West Michigan to use this approach, a hallmark of nationally recognized cancer centers. We are the only cancer center in the area to offer multispecialty teams for a wide variety of cancers.

Our dedicated multispecialty cancer care teams include:

  • Breast
  • Lung
  • Colorectal
  • Prostate
  • Melanoma
  • Bone, Sarcoma and Soft Tissue
  • Brain and Spine

More Technology and Treatment Options

Spectrum Health continues to invest in new technology and pioneer innovations. In some cases, we provide one-of-a-kind treatment in the region for certain cancers. Based on the latest protocols and therapies, and access to national clinical trials, patients have a range of options.

When it comes to radiation oncology, more patients are treated by Spectrum Health radiation oncology services than any other health care facility in West Michigan. All Spectrum Health locations offering this service are accredited by the American College of Radiation Oncology. Our radiation oncologists are specially trained to offer a high level of expertise in targeting specific cancers.

Novalis TX™

Spectrum Health was the first to acquire the Novalis Tx™, a stereotactic radiosurgery system. This non-invasive radiation therapy treats cancerous and noncancerous tumors with pinpoint accuracy. For patients receiving this technology, it means no anesthesia, no incisions and shorter recovery times.
