Past and present cleft and craniofacial patients’ sweet smiles and laughter proved to be contagious during a gathering at John Ball Zoo.

These kiddos, their family members and Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital staff enjoyed a sunny afternoon together.

A magic show by magician Tom Plunkard drew much applause and laughter during the event. Accompanying Tom was his pet dove, Hotdog, and his bunny, Noodle. A barbecue and toy raffle followed the magic show.

Robert Mann, MD, director of the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Oral Cleft program and John Girotto, MD, Spectrum Health pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgeon, joined in the fun to connect and visit with past and present patients.

The event concluded with families exploring the zoo.
