Allan P. Adler is one of the few people who can say he got his start in journalism in the rural community of Bad Axe, Michigan. The native son acquired diverse experience in reporting and photography at his hometown newspaper, The Huron Daily Tribune. From Bad Axe, Allan moved on to The Oakland Press in Pontiac, where he worked for more than 33 years in every area of the newsroom, doing copy desk work, reporting and serving in management. He then joined the Detroit News as an editorial page writer. He and his wife, Mary, love spending time with their blended family. They have five sons, one daughter and 12 grandchildren. Allan also enjoys reading and gardening.
