Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) poses for a photo.Patients and families are at the center of everything we do at Ludington Hospital. That is why we are forming a Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) to help us shape the health care services we provide.

PFAC members are current or previous patients and family members who have received services at Ludington Hospital.  These individuals meet with the hospital’s leadership team, physicians and staff to share stories, thoughts and insight.  They provide feedback about the hospital experience from a patient’s perspective and develop initiatives that will better care.

“Our patients are our stakeholders.  Their perspective is what matters the most,” said Jody French, RN, director of clinical quality improvement at Ludington Hospital.  “Involving patients and families in the design of care allows us to provide an exceptional health care experience that is truly patient-centered.”

PFAC members interact with Ludington Hospital employees to:

  • Promote patient and family-centered care principles
  • Establish priorities related to policy, programs and practices that support patients and families
  • Assist in developing strategies to strengthen communication and collaboration between health care providers and patients and families
  • Promote patient and family access to information, support and educational resources useful to them in making health care decisions
  • Contribute to the education of present and future health care providers in the principles of patient and family-centered care
  • Assist in planning new facilities and facility renovations
  • Develop creative and cost-effective solutions to problems
  • Improve patient and family satisfaction
  • Serve as a link between the community and the hospital
