Your sinuses are throbbing. Your throat is scratchy. And it’s snowing outside.
This is NOT when you want to dress up, fight traffic and sit in your doctor’s office to receive care.
Now you don’t need to.
“Spectrum Health is launching a new program that lets our patients video chat with a primary care provider online,” said Kristopher Brenner, D.O. “Now getting care for minor ailments is as convenient and easy as Skyping or Face-timing with out-of-town friends and family. Plus, our system has built-in security that meets federal standards, so online visits are confidential, just like appointments in a doctor’s office.”
Appropriate conditions for video visits include:
- Allergies
- Asthma
- Cold or flu (influenza)
- Cough
- Diarrhea
- Ear aches
- Fever
- Headache
- Pinkeye (conjunctivitis)
- Sinus infection
- Sore throat
- Urinary problems
Arranging a video visit is easy on the Spectrum Health app.
Dos and don’ts of video visits
- DO request a Spectrum Health video visit for yourself or your family member for the listed appropriate symptoms. It’s an easy and convenient choice in situations when you would normally see a doctor but don’t want to leave your house or workplace.
- DON’T schedule a video visit for emergencies. If you are experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath or symptoms of a stroke or heart attack, call 911.

Great content, very useful information. Thank you for sharing.
I like the option of ease that you pointed out with being able to talk to a professional doctor online instead of going in to the office. How many websites are there that offer this service? And do you have to pay for it? I have also seen online informational videos made by doctors, whether it’s an orthopedic video, ones about surgical procedures, or day to day tasks of a doctor. They are very informational and can answer a lot of questions you might have. I’ve had interest in the medical field and watch them to gain more knowledge. If you are looking to learn about cool things, that would be a good option.
It ‘s really great to know.Thank you for sharing.
