In January 2014, Nicole Smith was chosen to be a leader of wellness in Newaygo County as Tamarac’s Year of Transformation winner. On Saturday, February 28, Nicole’s final reveal will happen at Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial’s 11th Annual Day of Dance, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Newaygo Middle School.
Since age four, Nicole battled with her health and never achieved the success she wanted. She had tried countless diets and routines, but failed to find a program that worked for her. Nicole’s journey over the last year provided her the many services Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial had to offer, including a medical weight loss program, Tamarac fitness membership, access to the highly qualified personal trainers, Ahhh, The Spa at Tamarac services and much more at no cost to her.
“I wanted to feel comfortable in my own skin,” said Nicole. “Year of Transformation was a spring board for me. It helped me recognize my eating disorder, encouraged me to run my first 5k race and helped me transform into the person I always wanted to be.”
Day of Dance is a special community-wide event that’s not just dancing: it’s a day for every “body” to enjoy moving to music, drum beats and rhythm. Community members can take part in free health screenings, blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol checks.
